Shantelle's Journey

Shantelle became part of the DICE Enterprise family in 2019, right at the beginning of our journey. When Covid hit, Shantelle’s world, like so many others, suddenly became much smaller. Daily routines disappeared, social contact stopped, and isolation quickly took hold. Her mental health suffered, and without regular opportunities to get out, meet people, or feel useful, life began to feel overwhelming and lonely. During this time, DICE was there for Shantelle in every way we could be. We supported her with vital meal deliveries, regular check-ins, and practical help, but just as importantly, we made sure she felt seen, valued, and connected. DICE became a constant in an uncertain world, offering reassurance, structure, and a sense of belonging when it was needed most. As restrictions eased, Shantelle began to rebuild slowly. Through DICE activities and sessions, she found opportunities to socialise again, make real friendships, and regain confidence. What started as simply attending sessions soon grew into something much bigger: a renewed sense of purpose. Today, Shantelle is a vital member of the DICE Enterprise team. You’ll often find her helping at the desk, welcoming members, supporting the running of sessions, and proudly taking on responsibility. She has grown in confidence, independence, and self-belief, and her journey is one we are incredibly proud of. Shantelle’s story is a powerful reminder that DICE is about more than activities or events. It’s about people. It’s about standing beside someone when life feels at its hardest, and walking with them until they find their purpose again.
